2023 Heralds the 150th Anniversary of the New Zealand Shipping Company.
Celebrations will be held in both New Zealand and the UK.
In New Zealand, it will be held in Otaki on Friday 10th March.
Programme.
1135 Commemoration Service Otaki College.
1235 Meet and greet, with refreshments, and a display of New Zealand Shipping Company memorabilia.
1330 Celebratory Luncheon. Otaki RSA.
In the UK it will be held at the Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool, between the 16th - 18th June
Programme.
16th June 1800 Meet and Greet. Adelphi Hotel
17th June 1000 Guided Tour Albert Dock
1400 Guided Tour Liverpool Maritime Museum.
1830 Celebratory Dinner Adelphi Hotel.
18th June
1100 Two hour cruise on Mersey Ferry, including a Scouse lunch.
Open to everyone who worked for the New Zealand Shipping Company, together with their partners.
Also open to people who had a close connection to the Company.

For 5 weeks approx 1967 working as a junior engineer we were laid up on an NZSC vessel on the River Blackwater Essex UK. Unfortunately, I'm struggling to remember the ships name. I'm sure it was a county class vessel,and may have been the Dorset. My first vessel was the Mataura, which I joined in Japan for maiden voyage to Bluff, NZ. Hope you can blow away the cobwebs and enlighten me. Garry Millet

My father sailed from NZ back to Uk and onto Ireland in 1953 we understood the ship pulled into the Tonga to collect the queen and continue onto UK in time for queens carnation 1953 my father subsequently sailed onto Ireland. He often spoke about the voyage, he emigrated to New Zealand from UK 1949 via Perth / Fremantle Australia Maria Donohue

I sailed from London in 1967 on the MV Rangitoto around about March I have lost my records of the correct dates. I have also got photo's of the sailing. stopped in Curacao went through the Panama Canal, passed the Ruahine Heading north and called into Tahiti. We docked in Wellington. I also have photos of the trip. If you would like copies of them. I would Appreciate you were able to find out the dates of the sailing. Regards Eric Potts
